Jewelry Care

Our brass products will naturally develop a surface patina (or oxidation) over time.  Some wearers like the look a little patina brings but restoring the jewelry to its original finish is simple.

For general cleaning, gently polish with a quality jewelry polishing cloth. We use Fabulustre Polishing Cloth which is two polishing cloths in one. You can purchase Fabulustre on Amazon.com.

Cleaning Brass

Jewelry care for brass pieces can be done using common household ingredients Here are some favorite methods:

1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon baking soda
1 tablespoon dish detergent
1 cup hot water (Microwave for 1 to 2 mins)
1 piece aluminum foil

Heat water in the microwave for 1 or 2 minutes.
Cut a piece of aluminum foil that roughly covers the bottom of a small bowl (like a cereal bowl).

Pour hot water into bowl. Place salt, soda, and dish-washing liquid into bowl. Place jewelry on top of foil and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes.  Rinse in cool water and dry completely with soft cloth. Discard solution after use and make a new batch next time.
Allow the solution to sit for a few minutes before rinsing and allowing to dry.

We do not recommend cleaning jewelry with gemstones or pearl in commercial cleaners.

Jewelry Care for Gold

Mix a few drops of mild dish detergent with 1 cup warm water, scrub with a soft-bristle brush. If it’s tarnished, mix a 1/4 cup of ammonia into 1 cup of soapy water, submerge the jewelry and carefully brush with a soft-bristle brush. Rinse with lukewarm water and allow it to dry. Ammonia works well on brass, sterling and most fine metals.
